COTTONWOOD SUMMER CLASSIC

JUNE 5-6, 2010

Cottonwood Water Ski will unveil a new format for the Saturday event of our annual Summer Classic weekend.  The "Survivor" format is based on the popular TV show of the same name.  Skiers will be seeded into groups of four with the lowest score (handicapped)  from each group getting "kicked off the island" after each round.  The remaining skier from each group after 3 rounds will qualify for the finals and ski against the other finalists in a 4th round.  Top score (against handicap) in the finals will be crowned the "Cottonwood Survivor".  Sunday's event will be traditional 3-rounds incorporating the "Turn and Burn" format we used last fall.  Dinner on site Saturday evening for all skiers and officials. T-shirts for all participants.  Entry fee:  $60 per event.  Entry limit:  33 skiers.

Handicapped Scoring Rules

Skiers will be ranked based on their average buoy count (from USAWS Rankings List) over the past 12 months.  Each skier will be skiing against their "Average" otherwise referred to as their "Handicap" throughout the tournament.  A score of 1 buoy over Average would equate to a score of +1.  A score of 2 buoys below Average would result in a score of -2.  If a skier exceeds his average in a particular round, that score becomes his new Average for the remaining rounds.  Unless otherwise specified, ties will always be awarded to the skier who went first off the dock.

Thanks to the Ohio Water Ski Assn. for creating the Survivor format.
